Umpire Awards
The Saskatoon Bridge City Umpire Association holds their Annual Awards Banquet every September to recognize the accomplishments of the many umpires throughout the Softball Season
Neil Thiessen Award
The award was created in memory of Neil Thiessen, who was an umpire for a short time but left us a memory of a man who loved the game of softball and umpiring. Even during his fight with cancer, Neil would come down to the diamond and offer some positive and moral support to us. I shall always remember Neil as a person with a sincere desire to please people and his dedication to this association as the Treasurer for a number of years and that “Smile” of his.

Rookie of The Year- The John Haider Award
The John Haider Award was started by John to recognize new and up and coming officials in the game of Softball. John was a man of many talents as a politician to a Level 5 umpire of National standing. He also was one of the founding members of the Saskatoon Fastball Umpire’s Association in 1974. John had many achievements in his life time, but one that sticks out most in my mind is the Darren Lipinski Award he received in 1991 for 30 years of contributions to the game of Softball. At age 63, John passed away of a heart attack, while playing golf at our annual golf tournament.
